CORE JOB SUMMARY                                                                                                                       

The Leave and Accommodations Coordinator 2 (H) reports to the Manager, Employee Leave and Accommodations and serves as a senior-level resource in the administration of employee leave and accommodation programs. This role manages complex and sensitive leave cases under the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), Military Leave, the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (“PWFA”), ensuring compliance with University policies and applicable laws. The Leave and Accommodations Coordinator 2 (H) provides guidance to junior staff, leads process improvement initiatives, and partners with internal stakeholders to resolve escalated issues and support strategic leave management. Key job responsibilities include but are not limited to: managing high-risk or complex leave cases; leading training and education efforts; analyzing leave data to identify trends and opportunities; and contributing to policy development and implementation.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                          

Independently evaluates, approves, and manages complex leave of absence cases for faculty and staff under FMLA, Military Leave, ADA, and PWFA, including overlapping or intermittent leave scenarios. Serves as an escalation point for Leave and Accommodations Coordinator 1 (A) and other HR staff, providing expert guidance on nuanced or sensitive leave and accommodation matters. Interprets and applies federal and state employment laws and University policies to ensure consistent and compliant leave administration. Leads collaboration with HR Business Partners, Faculty Affairs, Legal, and other stakeholders to resolve escalated employee relations issues related to leave and accommodations. Develops and delivers advanced training programs and educational materials for HR staff and managers on leave policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Oversees the maintenance of leave records and protected health information, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable laws. Designs and maintains advanced tracking systems and dashboards to monitor leave utilization, trends, and compliance metrics. Conducts audits and analysis of leave data to identify patterns, gaps, and opportunities for process improvement. Participates in the development and revision of leave-related policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and organizational goals. Provides strategic recommendations to department leadership on leave program enhancements, risk mitigation, and employee support strategies. Reviews and validates medical certifications and documentation for complex cases, coordinating with healthcare providers and legal counsel as needed. Serves as a mentor and resource to junior leave coordinators, supporting their development and ensuring consistency in case handling. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                        

Education:

Associate degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing:

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
